Jaw alignment issues that are severe, even with growing patients, may require jaw surgery. This is especially true for non-growing and adult patients. Jaw surgery can involve the upper jaw, the lower jaw and sometimes both jaws in very complex cases. Jaw surgery can be utilized to correct an overbite, an underbite, a narrow upper jaw and involves an oral surgeon. Jaw surgery involves excellent communication between the orthodontist and oral surgeon to achieve the best result.
